Every child in the fifth grade enjoys your lessons.
You made teaching fun, and taught us in words we can actually understand.
You teach us entertaining songs which are simple at the same time.

From Arnold's All Stars

The Blue-Line Music Teaching Method works well in after-school and summer programs.

During the many years I spent developing the Blue-Line Music Teaching Method for the Recorder, it has always been my dream to share it with other teachers and volunteers.
If you love music and are interested in teaching children to play an instrument, please contact us for additional information about how you can use this powerful music curriculum in your community.
If you are in a position to support music programs financially, please help us sponsor our programs.  Thank you!

How we started

What we teach

  • The Blue-Line Music Teaching Method was developed by a school volunteer, in response to music cut-backs in the Los Angeles Public Schools.
  • The program has been used for 19 years in Los Angeles public and private schools and in after-school programs.
  • More than 4000 students have learned to read and play music using the Blue-Line Music Teaching Method

  • The Blue-Line Music Teaching Method uses a flexible, song-based, sequential curriculum. In only a few weeks, students
  • Learn to play and perform sophisticated songs on the recorder
  • Know how to read and write music
  • Understand basic musical concepts
  • Appreciate different styles of music
  • Have a sense of music history
