How to use Online and Multimedia
Music and Music History Resources
with the Blue-Line Music Teaching Method

Here are some ways you can supplement music instruction with other music resources:Singin' in the Rain

Play the recommended music as an introduction to a recorder lesson, or as background music during the day.
Combine music with an art lesson or free drawing time; have students match the mood and colors of their art to the mood and colors of the music.
Play recordings of the same song by more than one artist, to encourage students' musical creativity and appreciation of differing styles. Encourage them to sing along.
If you are in search of videos to use in your classroom as rewards or rainy-day recess activities,  our recommendations are entertaining, and let you tie your video  experiences to the music lessons.
Our Blue-Line Music Method materials include ideas for listening lessons. Students can write or discuss their answers.

 A Sea of Music

Imagine you’re on a boat and this music is the sea.  What is the ocean like? What is your voyage like?

We provide student worksheets, to be used with online resources.  Students can guess the answers to simple questions ahead of time, then listen to an online report and update their worksheet with the correct information....and learn something in the process

Would you rather listen to "My Girl" or buy a hot dog?

At Motown’s Headquarters (“Hitsville, USA”), Berry Gordy’s test for a hit song was to ask his workers, “If you had one dollar and you were hungry, would you buy this record? Or would you buy a ____________________?”

[Students might guess any kind of food. The answer, which students can hear on the NPR 100, is  - a hot dog!]

Mr. Gordy knew that everyone would answer "hot dog" - it was the amount of time they took to answer that told him how good the song was.
