The basic program is
designed for 14 weekly half hour lessons, supplemented by at-home or
in-class practice. Students learn to play the songs on the recorder,
accompanied by preprogrammed music played on an electronic keyboard (see
Materials.) Each lesson introduces a song or
significant section of a song, as well as related terminology, musical
concepts and background information.
If you wish, you can
easily modify the length of the course, the lessons, or the frequency of
the lessons. See
Lessons - Tailored to your individual needs.
From the very first
lesson, students are reading music and playing a familiar song, using
performance enhancements.
At the end of the
course, your students ...
►Will
be able to play and perform more than a dozen terrific, recognizable,
sophisticated songs on the recorder.
►Will
know recorder fingering for at least fourteen notes and will be able to
use a fingering chart to play notes they haven't learned.
►Will
know how to read and write music.
►Will
know about composers and styles of songs.
►Will
understand basic musical concepts.
►Will
understand basic principles of sound.
►Will
appreciate their own musical ability and the musicianship of their
classmates.
